Greenland Hills is located approximately 5 miles from Downtown Dallas and is delineated by Central Expressway on the West, McCommas Boulevard on the North, Greenville Avenue on the East and Vanderbilt Avenue on the South. There are 916 homes in the neighborhood, and we distribute quarterly newsletters to all homes. We also have an active emailing program that disseminates crime alerts, activity details, lost/found pet notices and other general news in-between newsletters. If you are interested in receiving these comminications, please join our mailing list on the home page of this site.
The Greenland Hills Neighborhood Association is one of the most active and visible neighborhood groups in Dallas. We have an effective Extended Neighborhood Patrol / Crimewatch program funded by voluntary annual contributions from all households in our neighborhood. This keeps our crime rates significantly lower than those of surrounding areas. We have a very dynamic activities schedule with annual chili cook offs, Easter Egg hunts, twice-a-year plant swaps, National Night Out gatherings, a Halloween parade, and a very popular Fall Festival.
General meetings of the GHNA are held randomly at Unity Church (Greenville at McCommas) to discuss neighborhood issues, to nominate and elect officers or for "social" reasons. We have a minimum of two meetings per year with extra meetings called as needed.
The Board, consisting of 5 officers and 6 Members-at-Large, meets monthly. Officers and Members-at-Large are nominated in March, elected in April, and officially assume their duties with the May Board meeting.
